Our vision

Our Centre was found in 1985 by two local nephrologists. The aim was to provide dialysis for patients in Hong Kong at an affordable cost. Since 2000, we urged the Government to expand haemodialysis service in Hong Kong as the majority of the renal patients were put on peritoneal dialysis. We held the view that patients should be given a choice. Our dream was realised as the Government recently offerd to 'contract out' haemodialysis to private haemodialysis providers.

What is new in the Integrated Dialysis Facilities (HK) Ltd

Professional Certificate in Renal Nursing (with the Open University of Hong Kong)

Since 1991, the IDF have, in partnership with the Baptist Hospital and the Lions Kidney Educational Centre (LKCE), organised 8 certificate renal courses.  At total of 412 renal nurses were trained and they are now leaders in the renal service.

This year, the IDF and its partners organised a Professional Certificate in Renal Nursing in conjunction with the Open University of Hong Kong.  (Program No: CH023).  The course will start on 23 June, 2010 in the Open University, Lai King Learning Centre.

Renal symposium with the Society of Physicians of Hong Kong

The IDF has been, since 2006, organized an  annual Nephrology Seminar for doctors in 2006. The coming symposium will be held on Sunday 23, June, 2010 in the Langham Hotel, 8 Peking Road, TST, Kowloon.  The theme of the symposium is 'Prevention and treatment of renal diseases'.

The Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui Heritage Trail
(The IDF heritage trail)

The Integrated Dialysis Facilities (IDF) is situated right in the heart of Yau Ma Tei 油麻地, which has a large number of heritage sites in Hong Kong.  Tourists flock to the area daily but so far there is no formal heritage trail in the Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui area.

To facilitate our patients to appreciate our Hong Kong heritage in a systematic manner, we have designed two heritage trails, one north and one south of our Centre.  We only choose those places that are of heritage or special interest.  Those well-known sites such as Star Avenue, Peninsula Hotel or shopping outlets are not included as they can be found easily in tourist guidebooks.  We also extend our invitation to  all visitors and local people are welcomed to enjoy these trails.

Our partnership with the Hong Kong Medical Association

Since 2003,  Our Centre is a partner of the the Community Network Diabetic program of the Hong Kong Medical Association with the aim to improve diabetic care and treatment of diabetic kidney disease. The Centre has organised many CME courses on kidney disease management.  The latest one was in the form of a renal symposium, "Preventing the preventable'  held on 11 April, 2010 in Kwong Wah Hospital.

Talk on the eHealth Informatics Initatives in the Private Sector in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Government is embarking on setting up a territory-wide record sharing project in Hong Kong - the ehealth record.  The IDF strongly support this project as it would greatly facilitae the infromation exchange between the private and the public renal centres.

Dr C P Ho was invited to give a presentation titled ''eHR information infrastructure - the private front" in the Hospital Authority Convention on 10 May, 2010.  Dr Ho described the development of the Open Source Clinic Management System of the Hong Kong Medical Assocation (the TaoYuan Project) and the building of the Integration Hub for connecting the public and the private health sectors. (the Wuhan project)
